Working Out When You Travel

We all get busy and have to miss a workout occasionally. Sometimes it's hard to stick to your regular exercise and nutrition routines when you travel for business or pleasure. It's important to stick with your routine and not let the time off become a habit. Here are some ideas when you're away from Lady of America:

Do you have access to a lake or pool? Jump in and swim some laps or jog in the water.

Enter local road races. Both runners and walkers can get enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment from these events. Often there is a small entrance fee and most races will take entrants right up to the start of the race.

No weights at home or in your hotel room? Use different sized cans of food as free weights. You can also fill milk jugs and other plastic bottles with different levels of water to vary the weight.

Use your feet. Skip the bus, car, or taxi and take a walking tour of the city. Ask locals for good walking or running routes. Enjoy the outdoors.

Find some woods or a mountain and go for a hike. Try canoeing or kayaking for a great upper body workout.
